The Sky Is The Limit!

We have a great team of well diversified people, from research & development and avionics, to toolers and builder assistance technicians.

Steve Lorentzen - Owner of Aerodynamics LLC

Steve was Project Manager on the Lancair IV Prototype. The prototype Lancair N409L was given that N number because of the lyrics of the song Lance Neibauer was listening to on the way to the hanger that day, “409” by the Beach Boys. This airplane went on to be the first to break the 300 mph mark and win the Sun 60 race at the Sun-N-Fun Airshow. As Lancair further developed the Lancair IV model, Steve was very instrumental in the development of the Lancair IV-P Pressurized and developed the lay out of the Firewall and Engine Fastbuild, still being offered by Lancair today. Before leaving Lancair, Steve was Project Manager on the Lancair Legacy which was turbo normalized with a Lycoming IO-360. This same aircraft was also the first one in it class to be another Reno Race Grand Champion and record holder. Steve seen the Legacy from drawings, to tooling, to molds and then to the flying prototype in just over 7 months. Three of the months were the actual building of the plane! Over the course of 12 years Steve had made it a personnel goal of learning and working in every department of the Lancair kit company, including: Tooling, Research & Development, Inventory, Composite Shop, Avionics, Aircraft Maintenance and Sales. Steve designed the crates to ship kits as well as the vertical storage system, used to inventory the kits.

Since leaving Lancair Steve has assisted with other general aviation projects and prototypes. Steve’s experience and knowledge as well as his experienced staff have given Aerodynamics LLC the reputation it deserves.
